Ahead of Monday governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, some aspirants under the ruling party on Friday expressed disgust over the failure of the National Secretariat of the party to announce the mode of primary to be adopted, 48 hours to the primary election.

One of the aspirants, Ife Oyedele while addressing reporters at the end of a reconciliation meeting in Akure, said 11 aspirants are disturbed about the turn of events in the party on the mode of primary to be used on Monday.

Oyedele said such had never happened in the history of the party where the mode of primaries will not be communicated to aspirants 48 hours to the election.

He, however, said all the aspirants including the incumbent governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu have supported the adoption of direct primary.

Oyedele, who is the Executive Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company of Nigeria (NDPHC), wondered why the delay in the announcement of the mode of the primary by the party’s leadership.

He expressed satisfaction with the composition of the APC’s Governorship Primary Election Committee headed by Governor Yaya Bello of Kogi State.

He said” We aspirants are bothered that we don’t know as at now the mode of primary to be adopted during the primaries on Monday. We are worried because we don’t know the mode that the election is going to take and that should worry anybody. This is the first of its type in recent times”.

There had been suspense on the mode to be adopted for the APC primary in Ondo state scheduled for next Monday.

The national leadership of the party had since the conclusion of the screening which favoured all the 12 Aspirants still keeping the mode to be used for the primary in secrecy four days to the date of the shadow poll.
