As the Ondo State gubernatorial primary elections in the parties draw nearer, there are series of alignments and realignments among the political parties in the state.
TopSearch Magazine reliably gathered in Akure that the leaders in the State PDP have resolved to give the Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, who is the serving deputy governor to Rotimi Akeredolu of APC the PDP’s ticket to face whoever APC presents in the election.
Though, the PDP leaders have given the deputy governor some conditions which the magazine gathered that Ajayi has consented. One of the conditions is to run for a one term in office if gets elected. Secondly, the party is giving him a core PDP member as a running mate.
According to a source from the PDP Secretariat in Akure, the agreement is not augur well among the aspirants who have collected nomination forms. The source informed the magazine that about six of them vowed not to step down for the deputy governor.
A member of PDP elders’ forum in the state who pleaded anonymity confirmed to the magazine that an arrangement is in top gear for Ajayi’s defection to PDP before weekend. Though, is not resigning as the deputy governor. The source confirmed.
When asked to comment on the aspirants who have collected expression of interest and nomination forms, the party stalwart said, “Let the deputy governor defects to PDP first, then, we will know how we shall move forward to wining the state from the APC”. The source concluded.
