Nnaji’s Lone Strike Against Warri Wolves Propels Rangers to Third Place

Christian Nnaji scored in the 17th minute to give hosts Rangers International a 1-0 win over visiting Warri Wolves on Sunday in the ongoing 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Nnaji’s strike, apart from making the difference in the Match Day 9 fixture played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, also helped Rangers move into third position in the league.
The Enugu-based side are now with 17 points from nine matches.
But they can drop a step or two down on the league table depending on results of the two Match Day 9 fixtures scheduled for Monday.
However, speaking after Sunday’s match, Rangers’ coach Salisu Yusuf praised his team and appreciated the efforts put into claiming the three points.
He stated that the match lived up to its billing as their guests gave a good account of themselves.
”We are happy that we won the match and, as for Warri Wolves, They played well contested all the balls, ” Yusuf said.
He also praised the Warri Wolves side for their resilience even when they were 1-0 down.
”Thank God we picked the three points and we are going to put our focus unto the forthcoming match against Abia Warriors of Umuahia in Okigwe,” the coach said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that while the win pushed Rangers to the third position, the Warri Wolves are in 17th place with nine points.(NAN)
