A newly registered Journalism Professional Association in Nigeria, The Fourth-Estate Professional Society (FPS) has signed a free Accident and Life Insurance Policy Coverage for members last Friday. In a Statement released by the National President, Dr. Babatunde Salami, he confirmed that all the foundation members inducted last February are now covered with a free Insurance Policy that covers: Any form of domestic or traffic accident, permanent disability of members and also cash benefit to the next of kin of members in case of death as a result of accident.
Speaking with TopSearch Magazine on telephone, Dr. Salami said the Accident Policy covers all forms of accidents. According to him, a member is entitled to fifty thousand Naira benefit per number of accident involved within a policy year. Dr. Salami also informed the magazine that in case of permanent disability as a result of accident, a member is entitled to a one term One hundred thousand Naira while in case of death as a result of accident, the next of kin of such member will have a claim of two hundred thousand Naira for burial and family up keep. Salami confirmed.
Furthermore, the National President also assures members of the FPS that the Insurance scheme is free to all the registered members of the Association irrespective of the grade status. Furthermore, Dr. Salami appeals to Journalists to key in to the opportunity as most media employers do not insured Journalists.
Reacting to other benefits to the prospective members of the Association, The President mentioned training, re-training and on the job training of members as very germane to the Society. National and International Journalism Seminars and Workshops are some of the packages in stock for the FPS. Dr. Salami said.
