A Non-Governmental Organisation, Tajudeen Olesin Foundation has commenced the rehabilitation of Kankatu Market/Sobi road project as part of intervention to ensure that the road is motorable.
The about 3 kilometres Kankatu road, which also links Amule Secondary School, had been in deplorable state for some years.
Speaking during the flagoff of the rehabilitation, the founder of the foundation, Ambassador Ibrahim Tajudeen Olesin, said the project was part of the foundation’s community intervention programmes.
He noted that the road had been in deplorable condition for sometime, hence the need for his foundation to intervene.
Olesin added that the foundation was established in 2015 for humanitarian purposes and community development.
According to him, the foundation had embarked on school renovation, award of scholarship to thousands of students as part of its educational development projects.
He noted with displeasure that economic viability of the road was dying despite its social and economic importance to the residents of the community.
He explained that the intervention would cover only grading as a temporary measure pending the intervention of the state government.
Olesin appealed to the state government to quickly come to the aid of the community by embarking on the total reconstruction.
Speaking at the site, the state Commissioner for Works, Engr. Rotimi Iliasu appreciated the founder of the foundation for his efforts at complementing government’s gesture.
He, however, urged the constructor working on the site to work with the engineer from the ministry to ensure that quality job is done.
The Commissioner explained that government was working round the clock to regularise contractual processes of some of the abandoned road projects.
He expressed hope that the contractor would soon move to site to complete the intervention of the foundation.
Some residents of the community who spoke with TopSearch Magazine, expressed deep appreciation to the founder of the foundation for the intervention on the project.
They, however, appealed to the government to urgently mobilise the contractor handling the project so that he can move to the site to complete the project.
Puff-puff seller bathed with hot vegetable oil In Ilorin cries out for financial help
A 24 year-old Puff-puff seller at Adabata junction, Mr. Abdulqudus Bello, has been hospitalised as a result of injuries he sustained when some hoodlums bathed him with hot vegetable oil at Agaka, Adabata junction in Ilorin.
This, according to eye witness account, was as a result of his reluctance to give the hoodlums free puff puff despite pleading with them to exercise patience while he attends to those who came before them.
His plea did not go down well with the hoodlums as one of them ( One Alaba of Ile-Omo area of Baboko, Ilorin, allegedly kicked the hot frying pan with his leg thereby emptying the hot vegetable oil on Abdulqudus.
Abdulqudus was then rushed to Apalara hospital in Apalara area of Ilorin West local government, where he has been receiving treatment for injuries he sustained from the unfortunate incident, which occurred in the late hour of Monday.
The victim’s father, Mallam Idowu Alarape of Okekere Area in Ilorin, while confirming the incident to TopSearch Magazine, appealed to the state government and well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid and help save the life of his son.
Mallam Idowu added that the cost of treatment for Abdulqudus injuries is not only weighing heavily on him but that his family is now going through hell to eat.
It was observed that the victim suffered third degree burns at both his face and neck however, he is currently responding to treatment.
The victim, Abdulqudus Bello, appealed to the general public and well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid.
The PPRO, Kwara State Police Command ,Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident, stressing that the suspect will soon appear in court for prosecution after Police thorough investigations.
KWSG begins rehabilitation of healthcare centre
The Kwara State Government has commenced the rehabilitation and re-equipping of the Otte Maternity and Dispensary Clinic in Asa Local Government Area of the state
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq disclosed this during a working visit to the facility in Otte-Oja health centre.
He further disclosed government’s plan to put in place integrated water plants for the community.
He said this became necessary as the clinic, which is in a state of total collapse, serves several communities in Asa local government.
The clinic is part of the over 37 primary health facilities the government is renovating in the first phase of what the administration calls a total overhaul of the primary health care system in the state.
The Alangua of Otte, Yusuf Abdul, commended the governor for his many developmental strides in the state, particularly
in Asa local government.
GSS Malete Class of ’85 reunites
…as Principal charges old students on devt
The Principal, GSS Malete, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mrs Suliat Funmilayo Sulaiman has called on old students of the school to always play complementary roles in the development of the school as a way of giving back to their alma mater.
She gave the advice during the maiden reunion programme organised by 1985 set of the school.
The programme, which was held at Engr Gani Shagaya Ayilara House, Ilorin, was well attended by no fewer than 30 members, including 10 amiable and evergreen lady classmates.
The principal, who emphasised the importance of old students association in the development of any school, said that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of the education sector.
Suleiman, who is also an old student of 1983/84 set of the school, called on members of the old students association to contribute positively to the development of the school.
She lauded efforts of the 1985 set in ensuring their reunion, which she described as highly successful in all ramifications.
She advised members of the set to foster their relationship with a view to encouraging other sets in adding values to their alma mater.
The programme featured official nomination and adoption of leadership of the association.
It was unanimously agreed that Engr Gani Shagaya Ayilara should be the Coordinator of the group, while, Ishowo-Isiaka Adebayo would serve as the General Secretary.
Musa Kadiri assumed the position of Publicity Secretary, while Afusat Umar (Akanbi) would be the Treasurer for the group.
It was generally agreed that the WhatsApp platform should strictly be used for its intended purposes while the guest speaker warned on the danger inherent in not adhering to simple civilised culture.
The reunion also commended the classmates in Lagos for their swift adoption of the platform. It specifically thanked Musa Ayuba and Nurudeen Gidado for their spectacular coordinating abilities.
The Coordinator of the set, Engr Gani Shagaya Ayilara, appreciated members for their commitment and urged them to sustain the spirit.
He also commended members for their vision and contributions in no small measure to the fulfillment of a long-standing dream.
He advised that efforts should be made to reach those who could not attend the maiden reunion programme.
The next reunion programme was fixed to January 1, 2021.
