The coalition’s Leader, Mr Adamu Matazu, made the call in a letter entitled: “A Letter of Complaint On The Ongoing Disruption of Peace In Edo State”.
It was addressed to the British High Commissioner, Amb. Catriona Laing, in Abuja.
Matazu also called on Laing to engage the Federal Government toward ensuring hitch-free election in the state.
“As you may be aware, it is now about 39 days to the governorship election scheduled for Sept. 19, 2020 in Edo State.
“The coming election has unfortunately heightened security challenges in the state to cause Edo people much worries, particularly women and children.
“We, therefore, wish to let you know that we have slated to embark on peaceful protest to solicit the support of Nigerians and the international community to help in pressuring the Federal Government of Nigeria to enforce the Rule of Law.
“And ensure there is peace, before the election, during the election, and after the election.
“Your Excellency, we request that you prevail on Federal Government to implement coherent security strategy to ensure that the elections are free, fair and represent the true will of the people,” he said.
According to him, the Federal Government should enforce Police’s order by mopping up all arms and ammunition in the hands of unauthorised persons, especially thugs and hoodlums. (NAN)
